Quick Overview

This course will provide a scientific and practical understanding in program design for athletic development (the whys, hows and whats). It will be very useful for strength and conditioning coaches, sport coaches, fitness coaches, personal trainers and physical therapists particularly working with land based skill sport athletes. The primary objective of this course is to bridge the gap between current research and practice and help more athletes perform better on field/court and reduce the likelihood of non-contact injuries. Attendees will learn how to design structured program including: conducting valid and reliable assessments, warm up (circulation, fascia and dynamic movement preparation), linear and lateral acceleration drills and progression, functional power and strength progression, energy system development (general and specific), cool down/ regeneration strategies useful for most skill sport athletes. This will be a practical one- day workshop and a necessary prerequisite to level 2 (advanced course).
Requirements: Attendees will be required to have a good understanding in strength and conditioning and minimum of 2 years’ experience working with recreational, young and elite athletes and/or teams. Attendees are also requested to come in their training gear due to the practical element of the course i.e. learning by doing.
